A new way to learn a language
Learn a language from the conversations you overhear.
Record thirty seconds of people talking around you, in Catalan, French or Persian. Eaves turns it into short lessons, and every word you learn becomes a house in your own town.
Eaves is in a small invited beta. Join the waitlist to hear about possible invitations.
The animated story needs JavaScript. Everything it says is here.
A summer night in Catalonia. You’re walking home under someone’s balcony. Two neighbours are talking.
They’re speaking Catalan. Too quick to follow. But you know where you are, and who is talking.
So you catch it. Hold up your phone for thirty seconds. Eaves listens.
Eaves writes it down. Every line they said, with what it means.
It picks out the words worth keeping. You heard it said under that very moon. Words from moments you were there for are the ones that stick. Each word falls into your town as a light. It waits there in the fog until you learn it.
Every word is a house.
A word you overheard becomes a small house in your town. Its rooms are its syllables; the stressed one stands tallest.
A moment from your world.
Try this illustrated example. Your capture becomes a short lesson.
Illustrated preview: capture controls depend on the beta configuration. This example does not record you or save progress.
Every moment becomes a district. Every word, a house.
A house climbs only when you recall its word on time, unaided. The town never lies about what you know.
Scout a friend's town.
Friends can connect by a direct link or through a Circle, then raid each other. First you look: three districts, shown only as how they stand. Materials, ivy, lamps, and paved streets that act as walls.
Every eavesdropper keeps a map. This one is yours.
Choose a town name to keep as a waitlist preference. If you’re invited, it will be suggested when you name your town; you can change it before laying the first stone. Waitlist details remain until you ask us to remove them or we remove the entry; an invitation or joining Eaves does not erase them automatically.
